Youth hockey is a long-standing tradition in the Royal Oak community that has spanned 50+ years since ROHA (Royal Oak Hockey Association) was originally established in 1956. In the summer of 2014, the volunteer-based Royal Oak Hockey Association transitioned to the new Royal Oak Hockey Club, a youth hockey structure which is  led by the rink staff members with the added experience of the Suburban Sports Group team.

Playing out of John Lindell-Royal Oak Ice Arena, the Royal Oak Hockey Club offers an 8 & Under Hockey Program consisting of the following divisions: Mini Mite (age 4 thru 6), Mite (age 7 & 8), a B Hockey Program (Royal Oak Falcons) consisting of the following divisions: Squirt (age 9 & 10), PeeWee (age 11 & 12), Bantam (age 13 & 14), and Midget (15 thru 18) as well as Travel teams (Royal Oak Eagles) are picked by the coaching staff of each respective team.

In all programs it is our goal to provide a great experience for every player and coach.  To that end we work hard to ensure that each player is playing at their competitive level and that teams are evenly formed to create an environment where every game is competitive and meaningful.

During team formation the John Lindell-Royal Oak Staff, along with registered coaches, take into consideration first and second year players in each age group, size and skill level of player.  We make it the highest priority to create parity between teams.
